  • You send me a brief, plus any inspiration, references, brand assets you’d like to incorporate, and anything else that will help me understand your vision and expectations. Collaborative communication and a proper brief set the stage for the final artwork to be exactly what you’re looking for.
  • Once we’re on the same page about the scope and terms of the project, we’ll sign a contract and get to work!

  • I begin translating your ideas into illustrations. I’ll brainstorm by creating many quick thumbnail doodles, then I’ll pick the strongest of these to further develop, creating several rough sketches, each exploring different concepts. I’ll send you these roughs for review. (Deliverable 1)
  • You pick which rough you’d like to move forward with and give notes on anything you’d like to change.

  • I revise the art based on that direction and send you a couple of comps to choose from. (Deliverable 2) At this stage, the art is tightened and full-color; the comps are small variations on the same design. Any last-minute adjustments are made here, so you’ll review the art to make sure it’s exactly what you’re looking for, then pick your favorite to take to final.
  • I’ll further polish and prepare the final art, finalizing details and ensuring that everything is correctly formatted and ready for use.

  • Once we’re all happy with the designs, I’ll send you the invoice and deliver the high-res art files to Paper Phoenix, who will take over from there. They’ll format the designs for production, print, and handle handwriting and mailing the cards.
